Humble radiance

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

 Matthew 11:28-30

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Hebrews 1:1-3

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

James 4:10

Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek His face!
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide Your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
You have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
God my Savior.

Psalm 27:7-9

Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.

Numbers 12:3

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands,

he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.

Exodus 34:29

Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

Psalm 34:5

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Matthew 5:14
